9/23/2022

We're continuing our Kenya Adventure from Part 1 of Girl's trip in Kenya!

Maasai Mara

Elewana Sand River Camp

We were greeted upon arrival at the airstrip to the Masai Mara National Reserve by our driver from the Elewana Sand River lodge.  After chatting with our driver over a welcome drink we drove by many animals before we arrived to the lodge.

Unfortunately, we were about two weeks too early to see the great migration from Tanzania (we were there the first week of June) but this also meant there were less tourist in the reserve.

Girls Trip to Kenya! Part 1

Finally, after not knowing if another wave of the pandemic was going to shut down borders, we were in our business class seats on Kenya Airways leaving NYC and would be in Nairobi in 15 hours.  This is going to be the most epic girls’ trip ever to celebrate us surviving everything that COVID could throw at us.  And most of all we were going to have a break from our families who we had seen and been trapped with for a better part of a year.  We were going on a luxury safari and try to remember what life had been like before COVID.

Situated on a private quay between Cape Town's kid-friendly Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and the tranquil yacht marina with a breathtaking view of Table Mountain, Cape Grace Hotel could not be better located for a stay in town. The hotel feels like a walk-in storybook depicting South Africa and Cape Town’s heritage and cultural diversity: rare Cape Dutch antiques mixed with bespoke hand-painted fabrics, tapestries and ceramics by local artists, fashioning a delightfully unique hotel with contemporary style. The amazing staff and truly wonderful atmosphere, with carefully and thoroughly planned child-friendly details, made us immediately feel at home away from home.

Jock Safari Lodge is the very first privately owned and operated concession in South Africa’s Krueger National Park (KNP). Located at the junction of the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers at the southern tip of KNP, Jock Safari Lodge is situated on 6,000 hectares (nearly 15,000 acres) in the pristine region of Bushveld, regarded as the best Big Five game viewing area in the park. Even better, it was built to the most stringent eco-management criteria in South Africa and is actively involved with numerous conservation and research projects regarding rare and endangered species.
From the moment we arrived, greeted with a welcome drink and cold towels, to the last game drive, we did not want our stay to end or to say goodbye to the amazing wildlife that we experienced.

Hello FUTURE TRAVELER!

Nothing is more satisfying than the excitement that accompanies exploring a foreign land. If this sentiment resonates with you, I have good news to share:  the world is preparing to travel again!

More exciting announcements are emerging from countries beginning to reopen to fully vaccinated travelers, and/or those who provide a negative PCR test (Greece, Iceland, and The Seychelles to name a few) — and this is only the beginning! Regulations vary from country to country, but a valid passport is always essential for international travel. I encourage you to check your passport's expiration date and contact me to discuss renewal options if it will expire before 2022.

The first family trip planned for 2021 will take us to Belize. We were looking for a one week trip for spring break that doesn’t required a long flight and that meets all the members of my family's requirements for an awesome vacation. I want to be close to beautiful beaches, my husband wants culture, and my daughter has to see animals. Belize  offers the perfect mix that will make us all happy. Mission accomplished!

If you dream of seeing the Big Five at least once in your lifetime without all the crowds, then the only place you’ll need to visit is the Sabi Sands Game Reserve in South Africa where game sightings are so common they’re relatively guaranteed in an intimate setting. It is one of the few places in Africa where you have the chance to see the Big Five within 2 to 3 safari days. The Sabi Sabi private game reserve is situated in Sabi Sands and includes the Earth Lodge, Selati Camp, Little Bush Lodge, and the Bush Lodge which is a National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World.
